Was it gonna be the Gwynnie in Sliding Doors?
I like to think of it as, my Gwynnie in a Perfect Murder stage. Scarf please...
Kindness of all my regular commenters who will not be run off by the "word verification" velvet rope I had to install. I held the spammers at bay as long as possible but, all signs started pointing to "Carpal Tunnel please use headlights" from the endless "delete on mailbox and handheld" taunts from my Crackberry. I was beginning to feel a bit like a Tokyo elevator operator. Besides, I'll need to preserve my hand strength for all that long hair grooming...XXOO
So it looks good so far. I am in the process of growing out my bangs, and it is not fun. Hang in there!
ReplyDeleteI commend you! My entire life, my hair has never been past my shoulders. I decide to grow it out but as soon as it gets to that point it does this weird wavy thing at the end and I get it chopped off. Can't wait to see yours!
ReplyDeleteMy sister has your hair and we discuss this topic ad nauseum, especially after the article below was published. Not because of your ages, but convenience factor of longer hair as it is easier to maintain than short hair (pony tail instead of wash and MORE product)...and after watching Gwynnie last Saturday on SNL, long hair can always look chic. Go For It and Enjoy!

BTW, did you see the lucite chairs at last nights state dinner? HuffPost has a great slide show...
ReplyDeleteLooks great! You are one of the blessed girls who has a face thin enough and features that are defined enough to wear your hair short without your face looking like a bobble head... Your short haircuts are chic, hip, effortless and I feel like long hair would drown you a bit... Gwen's Sliding Doors cut would be adorbs on you! Maybe next time?
ReplyDeleteYou are a ringer for Gwenneth and I actually thought that was you in the final (Perfect Murder) photo.
ReplyDeleteGo for that short hair.
It's so funny that you posted those images of from "Sliding Doors" and "A Perfect Murder," because those are often my go-to images for my hairstyles. Love Gwynneth's short hair. Although, in my latest attempt to grow my hair, I was inspired by Winona Ryder's tresses in "Black Swan." (Her hair only, mind you, not her psychotic character.)
ReplyDeleteGwynneth, all the way. Just. Wow.

My favorite quote is "I'll never lie to you - but if I ever tell you I'm growing my hair out, don't believe me!" I have the best intentions but it's just so difficult to do. I shall, once again, Allie, live vicariously through you!
ReplyDeleteYou are brave. I can't go back there, I don't even know where my blowdryer is..........
ReplyDeleteSounds like you are having the dilemma of Town (short/chic) and Country (long/natural) hair. A possibly hybrid might be the clips, or extensions. You are gorgeous in either!
ReplyDeleteSo funny you wrote this post (lots of deja vu for me on the blogs today) as I watched the Gwynneth Paltrow thing on E! this weekend that was like a shortened 'True Hollywood Story'... and reminded myself that I loooove her hair. And your hair looks great. I hope you don't mind it being short in the winter (which I hate hate hate!).
ReplyDeleteAnd, natch, love you for keeping spammers out. Isn't it such a headache?
XOXO
Good luck to you! After chopping it off in 2005, I'm back to long at the moment. It took me longer than it should have because even though I adore my stylist, she hates long hair (so boring to trim!) and has been sabotaging my quest for length. At some point I will once again get the urge to go back to short, but not yet...
ReplyDeleteWho cares about hair. How 'bout that lady with the cleavage?
ReplyDeleteYou look so perfect the way your hair is and not many people can carry it off the way you do. I can't picture you with long hair. Do you have any photos to show us?
ReplyDeleteFrom one who hasn't changed hair style in 20 years!!!
No matter which you do, you will look gorgeous because you just ARE! xoxo
ReplyDeleteIf you let your hair grow long - really long - I have the salon for you to go to in NYC! I'm contemplating letting my hair grow long (again)....I just let my bangs grow out and that was the expected struggle.
ReplyDeleteYou're pretty no matter what but change is good; it will be fun seeing you go through many Gwynnie phases while growing it out. And you actually may find (as pointed out by HipWaldorf) that longer tresses take less time - including salon time - to maintain.
ReplyDeleteP.S. - You look so slim!
I was reading a decorating blog this morning (we are having toooo many snow days up here) and there was a photo of Gwynnie in "The Talented Mr. Ripley"...It looks like great styling for that "in-between" stage of hair. There is a slideshow in the link attached.

i'm actually watching A Perfect Murder right now. strange. i did the Sliding Doors cut and color in '98, and grew it out to A Perfect Murder choppiness, and it's been growing ever since. i recently had it cut to my shoulders, but am actually thinking of going back to the short cut. you helped inspire me to do so. thanks and take care.
ReplyDeleteHaha - story of my life. Had butt length hair a few yrs ago and it was a thick heavy burden to carry around. Then had a short shag. Currently attempting a grow out, but am at that hideous stage. I've been having the bottom trimmed, trying to go for Louise Brooks while the layers catch up.
ReplyDeleteGwenth's short hair in 1st photo is darling - very sophisticated.
