My Morning Addiction

While I was living in granola-esque Charlottesville, my employer, Cricket, peer pressured me into trying her Netti Pot. It was an "Erika Christensen in the movie Traffic" moment, I was hooked after my first "hit" with a lone euphoric tear sliding down my cheek.

For someone totally handicapped with allergies, like moi, what could be more satisfying than pumping warm water through one's clogged sinus pipes?

This how the scene should play out, with the exception of the cheezy background music, unless of course ya need the crutch...

But, around these parts, the post teeth brushing morning ritual is more often than not a "tandem" event with le commandant overseeing the activity and generally getting under foot/nasal stream.

And, here's a smidge more realistic version of what you should expect during your inaugural attempt. It may be messy...wierd...scene making...and a little like someone making you laugh right in the middle of swallowing a drink and having it come out your nose. But, trust me, the relief will have you coming back for more.

*Add cat sidekick at own discretion*

PS...I, true to form, had to get the Cadillac of all porcelain Netti Pots. But, my recommendation for all would be for a more pedestrian plastic version that can travel easily and not be knocked over and broken by certain acrobatically challenged pusses.

  1. Thanks for the reminder....I have one too and find myself using it in the winter - but it really clears the passages!

  10. Hahaa...sorry to distress you ADG. Although, I too do the Loratodine/Nasonex combo I still need my daily Netti crutch. But tis true, tis true that it should be done behind closed doors. Kinda like having natural childbirth...keep the hubby BEHIND the blue sheet and NOT below your shoulders at all times to avoid deflating of image forever more. XXOO

  11. Your childbirth analogy is spot on. No doubt that I love the finished product but after watching the birthing video at Sibley prior to LFG's birth, I was an "up around the shoulders...breath baby breath 'cause I ain't lookin' down "there" kind of a guy".

  13. A woman in my office recommended Netti to me about three months ago and it is amazing. I have both the porcelain version and a plastic travel one, both of which I love, despite how ridiculous I look in the mirror. I was freaked out at first but it's amazing how well that goofy looking thing works.
