Yes Anonymous, we found a place in G'wich and Babe is holding down the new fort with his T. Anthony roller and blow up mattress til the T-Babes, movers and I arrive in a few weeks.
Annnd thus begins the list making pour moi. Figure it's best to
eeease Babe in with the smaller sundries
(whispers) and work up to the Hermès Avalon blanket...
Right off the bat I'll need some more
Preppy Cards li'l red Gucci loafer mailing labels with our new return address...
And, another bottle of my signature Pierre Deux
Eau de Maison home scent to christen the new digs...
And, a couple new
Aquis microfiber hair towels
for the bathroom...
My hard to find
Cucina hand soap and hand lotion duo
for the kitchen sink...
And, the
fiiinally available year round
Molton Brown amber cocoon hand wash
for the bathroom sink...
Lastly, since I'm entertaining the thought of of picking up Masters Swimming again at the G'wich YMCA, I'll need some new
sweds.
One pair o' blues...
And, one pair o'
looks good with the remnants of my tan green...
Kindness of anyone who can direct me towards the in vogue practice suits. The last one I owned was a tie-dye Speedo and that is NOT the look I want calling attention to myself as I start back in the sloooow lane...XXOO
you have to check out "EQ Swimwear". great suits, great choices of prints, just a great company to work with!!!
ReplyDeleteI clicked on the Pierre Deux site; apparently they have ceased operations and are in bankruptcy proceedings?
ReplyDeleteMuch to my surprise, the Cucina products are carried in my local Target. Maybe you can find it at the Target in White Plains.
Good luck with the move.
I have just started to swim laps at our Y (after a 20+ year break) and so happy to see your goggle recommendation. My Speedo goggles really hurt! I will definitely try them, as well as browse the swimming outfitter you linked. Soon my husband will ban your website!
ReplyDeleteIt was hard for me to get back in the pool, as I was never such a great swimmer to begin with, but it's been the best thing I've done for myself this summer.
First of all, GAH! Not my beloved Pierre Deux! soooob...
ReplyDeleteSecondly, sweds have a smidge of an acquired taste but, for only $4.50, they're worth a test run. They do require assembly and, personally, I forgo the string/plastic to connect the eye pieces and just cut a small piece of the elastic to use in place of...XXOO
let me know when you are here!
ReplyDeletePierre Deux in Westport, I believe, is still standing tall... lmk if you need me to pop in on route to Greenwich!
Good luck with your move. I hate moving but a new fab home can be all the motivation you need

i just purchased a pair of green sweds for the exact same reason!
ReplyDeletewith it i also picked up what is called an "ugly" suit. dolphin uglies, that is the technical name. they're bright colors and kind of ugly, but they work.
another option that i've had luck with is the swimoutlet.com grab bag. that way you get a cheap practice suit and don't have to labor over the pattern because you get one anyway. i've had a few, and the most recent was black with some random pattern and the new standard back (with the skinny straps).
hope that helps!
All the Cucina you'll ever need can be found at A Southern Season in Chapel Hill, NC. They ship. www.southernseason.com
ReplyDeleteBest of luck with the move, and more importantly, decorating your new abode! Maryland will surely miss you!
ReplyDeleteInspiring list for the new home.
ReplyDeleteLove the WS towels. I just called
PD on Long Island -- yes closing all stores.
BarbaraG
I love you blog - really, I do. But, have you considered forgoing the $28 hand soap and $500 beach towels for a down payment on a home you own as opposed to rent?
ReplyDeleteCannot wait to see photos of your new abode. I just know it is going to be the epitome of CHIC!
ReplyDeleteSo I was really upset when on my last trek to Fairfax Square by Tysons the Pierre Deux store was closed. Then I find out the online store is closed, too! THIS IS AWFUL!!!!!
ReplyDeleteCRYING
It sounds like there are some very upset Pierre Deux customers - people who ordered furniture in the spring, paid for it (in full), haven't, and probably won't, receive it.
ReplyDeleteYikes on Pierre Deux! Is there nothing sacred left????
ReplyDeleteAs to bathing suits, you might try Land's End they have a fairly large selection, and I think some of them would be swim-worthy.
but...but...but....I would have selected the pair of pink Belgians over the single red Gucci loafer for your mail labels, I must need deeper Summersverb immersion to have made such a mistake....can't believe you're wearing a SWEATER, we're DYIN down here on Amelia Island FL.
ReplyDelete-Flo
Flo- I thought Allie would pick the pink Belgians too!
ReplyDeleteAll of the Pierre Deux stores are going out of business, this is like parting with a very close friend. Our two stores are open in Chicago and Winnetka and I found quite a few goodies at both for 30 and 40 percent off, including a lovely red toile quilt. Good luck with you move, my family is out east so perhaps I will see you on Greenwich avenue over the holidays!
ReplyDeletejust let me know when i can bring over a jello mold to welcome you to the neighborhood
ReplyDeleteHave the pink Belgie notecards :)
ReplyDeleteAnd, count on it Mel! XXOO

And, just as I ran out of stamps too! Merci for the fab find Flo...XXOO
ReplyDeleteI love Molten Brown! I usually buy the candles as hostess gifts when we stay with people here in the UK.
ReplyDeleteThe Pierre Deux situation is such a shame, one of our favorite vendors (Ann of Lovie & Dodge) worked for them for years & ran one of their showrooms for a long time, I think at the Dallas Market or Atlanta.
ReplyDeleteAt any rate, lists are a *very* good thing! Here's another option for personalized postage, they have madras! http://bit.ly/pyaJSx
