And, even though I'm not in the Hamptons at the moment, it doesn't mean I should be deprived when I have a Tate's hankering. Lucky for me, although not so lucky for my P90Xhausted self, I have my mitts on the recipe. Salt encrusted post beach Simba doo totally optional...
2 cups unbleached, all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
1 cup (2 sticks) lightly salted butter, at room temperature
3/4 cup granulated sugar
3/4 cup dark brown sugar, firmly packed
1 teaspoon water
1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
2 large eggs, beaten (I use organic, or what Babe refers to as my "boarding school" eggs)
2 cups semisweet chocolate chips (they suggest Nestlé but, I prefer Ghiradelli)
Preheat the oven to 350°. Whisk the flour, soda and salt together in a bowl. In another large bowl, mix the butter with a wooden spoon to lighten it a bit and then mix in the sugars. Fab arm workout. Add the water, vanilla and eggs to the butter mixture. Stir in the flour mixture until just combined and then fold in the chocolate chips. Using two soup spoons, drop the cookies 2" apart onto two nonstick or greased cookie sheets. Bake for eight to twelve minutes, rotating the sheets halfway through. Remove the cookies to a wire rack, and repeat the process with the rest of the batter. Or....
Kindness of Gwyneth Paltrow for sharing the Tate's recipe in her GOOP newsletter. Also, if we're being honest, another reason I hold the Tate's cookie in such high esteem...XXOO
"Cheating" with style and flair! Love it!
ReplyDeleteWow, do those look good. My husband loooooves choc. chip cookies. This is on my to do list for sure.
ReplyDeleteUm, just out of curiosity: I noticed cans of clams on your counter. A secret ingredient? Do they help you stay slim if you add them to cookies? JK of course. I can spot Snow's clams from a hundred paces as they are a staple in our house for clam chowder.
Oh my gosh! I've never found anyone else who knew about Tates Cookies- they sell them at the market at my beach house and i seriously craveeeee them all year long. My favorites are the chocolate chip. Incredible.
ReplyDeleteI added raw nuts for added health and humor.
ReplyDelete(one part to keep my kids, saying things like, "nuts")

What's good for Gwyneth is good for me, although it's not that difficult to convince me that I "need" a cookie. Hope you have a great day. xoxo
ReplyDeleteKeeping the pounds off as I age is getting harder and harder... why must you post silly little things like this? ;) Btw, if you are near a Trader Joe's their bittersweet chocolate morsels are even better than Ghiradelli's!!!!
ReplyDeleteLOVE Tate's!!
ReplyDeleteI'm desperate for the recipe for their whole wheat dark chocolate chip cookies! Too DIE for, AND, make me feel a smidge less guilty.
Cheers!

ReplyDeleteWould you believe that just as I have read this someone has brought a batch of Tate's cookies to work?
ReplyDeleteYum. Thank you for sharing. I am always looking for new cookbooks.
ReplyDeleteps- love those shorts!
Long time lurker, first time commenter...I LOVE Tate's!! I have a famous (some would say infamous) sweet tooth and these are one of my favorites. Plus, one cookie is just 2 Weight Watchers Points (although who can stop at just 1?!).
ReplyDeleteWow, what yummy cookies! And even yummier? Your shorts! Love them!
ReplyDeleteP.S. I just ordered the Giddy Up shift you wore in a previous post. Love it, and am so excited to get it!
Shh- I nibble cookie dough when I'm baking too! Shame on us! ;) And please, if they're good enough for Gwyneth they're good enough for us, haha! Cheers!
ReplyDeleteYUMMY!!
ReplyDeleteThanks, I must try this.
