The Blues

We're still nursing broken hearts over here but, are determined to keep it together til Babe returns again for the weekend...

Fortunately, there are a couple of nice sales to keep Pilgie and I distracted and, hopefully a smidge less likely to wile away our days huffing Templeton's grey wool mouse. Stephen Bonanno is hosting their Annual Spring Sale and offering $20 off each pair ordered when the code "pinkandgreen" is entered in the questions/notes box. Platinum on platinum combo here I come...

This is also the final week for 20% off all Preppy Cards orders when entering "summer is a verb" in the special instructions. Red Gucci loafer mailing labels, CHECK!

I may have to turn to the hard stuff to assuage my misery though. Jessica from The Love List sent an appropriate Rx my way in the form of the Fendi baguette needlepoint kit...

A purchase of this magnitude could quite possibly result in an early reunion with my beloved Templeton though cuz Babe would kill me. Ahhh...a girl can always obsess...

Kindness of Babe who had to shelf his own grief in order to take care of his distraught family all weekend. He produced presents, funny movies and junk food galore. He massaged, consoled, forfeited sleep and even physically threw himself on the remote control when he caught me about to watch an Oprah piece on the slaughter of dolphins thus, averting a disaster of epic portions. Hurry home to us Babe...XXOO

  2. I thought about you all weekend. May I borrow your poem to send to a friend's husband whose lost his beloved dog to that cruel "old age" last week? I told him about you and Templeton. My friend has only been married to him for a few years, but the dog has been with him through divorce and heartache beyond measure. He is suffering and not ashamed to show his tears. So sad. xoxo

  3. Oh Alice, my heart is broken for you all. :-( I hope you feel a little better every day, I know it's so tough. We all love you and are sending big hugs to your family. XOXO
p.s. Discount on Shopaholic in Alabama today, in case you "need" one of those Caroline Grace cuffs to help you through this difficult time. Surely a green turtle would produce a slight grin? :-)

  4. Oh, humor me some more please. I think Templeton just smiled a smile of approval, now that bag would have nine lives around here. Happy to host a little game of mouse while the cats away. Would a give-away help to take your mind off things? A JMcL needlepoint belt, you know I have a connection to the powers that be. Pick one and let me know, while you are shopping and drowning your sorrows.
Templeton Heaven, he must be cozy with an Hermes head scarf and towel. That is my idea of heaven.
Humor me and I will humor you.
That is what friends are for.

  5. I immediately clicked the connection to view the bag. How fun that would be to stitch - literally a blank canvas! The ideas were swirling around in my head until I saw these pesky little words: "This item is not available". Guess it's only for viewing through the plate glass window (or computer screen as it were.) Thoughts are with you.

  6. Alice, I thought about you this weekend. Poor Pilgie. Pets are so in tune when something is wrong. When my daddy died, our dog, Tucker, sat by his favorite chair for days and literally only got up to eat and go outside. I am glad you had Babe and your humor to pull you through. xoxo

  7. I know how you are feeling - on Saturday our beloved 12 year old mutt left us - poor thing was suffering and in my mind I know she's at peace - but the heart is another story...
The house seems too quiet - keep yourself busy and distracted - shopping seems like a win win ;)
Thank you so much for sharing your wonderful poem - it's very helpful in this time of grief. Take good care of yourself. xoxoxo

  9. Allie, you just shop away and spend as much money as you want until you feel better. However, if Babe asks who gave you permission I'll deny everything. Love you lots and thinking of you!

  11. Bonanno - what is color is the pair you wear the most? For my first pair - I'm having a tough time deciding. I'm not needing them for a specific outfit, but to wear with everyday shorts and polos. Any thoughts?
    Thank you, thank you!

  15. So sorry about that Sally. You can reach Kirsten at 888.620.2226 or email her at kirsten@preppycards.com

I know from past ordering experience that there's a good chance you have not been charged yet and indeed the discount will be added when your card is run. I think Kirsten is out of town and I'm sure she'll be certain to do so upon her return. Please let me know if you still have trouble resolving the issue. Thank you for the heads up...XXOO

  16. And Cricket, my first pair ever, and still one of my favs, are the all white. They just scream "summer". I would also recommend all platinum for your inaugural pair. They go with everything. Runners up are red with white stitching. Also très summery...XXOO

  17. Well, at this point, I think you have definitely earned an Hermes beach towel for your superior nursing skills and general good-naturedness. :)

  18. Oooh. What a heartbreaking photo. You are a good cat mum. Pilgie needs some 'nip. Love the needlepoint kit. It would be a good distraction (Pilgie can assist you) until Babe returns. xoxo

  20. Oh, your poor Pilgie! Animals suffer a loss of a friend as much as we do. We have two Russian Blues that are litter mates and I dread the day. . . . . .(for many reasons).

    Hang in there!

Your husband is a jewel(who needs Alhambra?)

  21. Glad Babe had all the bases covered from junk food to funny movies, hopefully he produced some Q-Tips for Pilgie!! Keeping you, Babe and Pilgie in my thoughts...
