Dodging A Cashmere Bullet

Since I'm in need a black cashmere turtleneck sweater, I broke the self imposed seal on the Avenue's Ralph Lauren...

Cut to me in a 400 sq ft gold gilded dressing room pulling Mr. Lauren's gorgeous black cashmere turtleneck sweater over my head as the kind sales lady says through the closed door, just to let you know dear, that sweater is over $900. Now, cut to me pulling said sweater back over my head before the flashback of solitary doghouse confinement sweat I broke out in sealed the $900 deal AND my fate...

My time in the clink over spreadsheetgate made for one long summer. And, even with early release for my Hermès wrap due to good behavior, the time inside was unbearable. J. Crew will do just fine thank you. And, who says rehabilitation doesn't work?

And is it considered quadruple jeopardy if I also get it in heather blush...

 Navy...

And heather hyacinth? Yeah, pretty sure I can't be tried four times for the same sweater in multiple colors...

Kindness of Moi for remembering that second floor means "Collection" at the G'wich Ralph Lauren and written permission from my probation officer is required in order to leave the "Black Label" grounds...XXOO

  1. Did ya notice the 25% off and free shipping? You little bargain hunter you. Babe will be so proud, he just might have to spring for the Alhambra.

  2. So, at a 25% savings, if you buy 4, isn't that like getting one free? I was never good at math, but I like the way this sounds.

  3. I am a loyal follower for years and LOVE your blog, it's my go to each morning. You have great taste but recently I feel that so many of your posts focus on the pricetags of things rather than quality and/or why you like them so much. However, I worked at RL for three years and understand the beauty of that sweater!

  4. Hilarious! There is a point where quality stops and ridiculous checks in. A smart girl knows what she pays for.

  6. I'm not supposed to buy anything for one month to assuage my (self imposed) guilt over a spendy boot purchase, but the siren song of 40% off + free shipping on my most coveted fall item has me in a quandry. Possible loophole is that said item won't ship til 10/26, maybe not arriving til my month is up.........

  9. You worked at RL Kenny? Swooon...my dream job! And, trust me, I think Ralph makes thee BEST cashmere sweaters and if that turtleneck had been exactly what I was looking for I woulda said, the crime is worth the punishment then skipped all the way home and into the doghouse. But, it was almost sheer in volume and dressier than I wanted. (whispers) Besides, there were 2 Black Label cable knit cashmere lovelies on the first floor that will shortly be finding their way into my stack :)

  10. You had me smiling all the way... feel the same way about the RL stores in New Canaan (I should have gone to jail for the $100 I spent on khakis for my 13 year old!) Love your pick from J. Crew and wouldn't have gone for more than 3 colors myself.

  11. They definitely make the best sweaters. You would die if you knew how marked up they were though - 'tis the nature of retail. I worked in the New Canaan store and the Georgetown store, along with an internship in NYC. You should go work in the Gwich store - you'd be SO good at it! Discount is very handy and guilt free! I don't think I actually made a dime those three years :)
