Monkey See, Monkey Read...

If I was held under the hot lamps, usually reserved for Babe's "what's in the pipeline" interrogations, and forced to name my all time favorite and most used cookbooks, it would hands down be my Barefoot Contessa collection...

Well, merci to scout in the field Janine Martinelli (who also keeps me abreast of invite only Hermes sales) for the heads up on Ina's how easy is that? which will be released in late October...

I'm not gonna lie; it's the pretty cover that helped Recipes from an Italian Summer make the Amazon wish list cut. That, and Gwynnie recommended it...

Okay, okay...I give. Midnight Feasts: An Anthology of Late-Night Munchies is another recommendation lifted from GOOP. What can I say? The girl's got taste. Plus, a peek into notable foodies' and chef's late-night snacking habits appeals the voyeur in me...

Spécialités de la Maison, from the American Friends of France, is a compilation of recipes from noteworthy writers, celebrities and socialites of the 1940's. Babe's hot lamps are wheeled back out...(shameful whisper) I saw it mentioned in Town & Country...heat's turned up...(hangs head) Tory Burch also mentioned it on her blog...

Kindness of all my Summer is a Verb loyal readers who will generously cut me some slack this week with some abbreviated posting. I'm going to be somewhat out of pocket but, promise to be back soon. Off licking my hot lamp wounds...XXOO

  1. cheers to a gal who makes all the specialites de la maison seem very easy. Slack cut, now serve me a snack at mind-night?

  2. Right on time...Ina releases a book for the Christmas rush.
Of course I will have to get it lol! It's a shame she doesn't give much thought to her tour - I would love to get my books signed!

  3. I love the Ina Garten books I have now and I can't wait for this new one to be released.

  4. Sister, I need all the help I can get in the kitchen! It's no wonder I haven't met my "Babe" yet. Help me learn to cook! xoxox

  5. Ina's books are wonderful, the recipes always work beautifully. But, Midnight Feasts??? I must have that one!

  6. I pre-ordered her last book and requested it be signed...and it was. From Amazon. Wonder if they will do the same for this one. You always have your pulse on a few of my favorite things. xoxo

  7. Thank you for the heads up on Ina's new cookbook - I was just leafing through her first book, salivating and wondering what to make for a dinner party on Saturday. Maybe grilled swordfish with a tomato/caper sauce and a lemon mousse... Now if I only had her help in the kitchen too!

  8. Off to pre-order Ina's book - she is my favorite!

  9. I can't believe you are looking for Spécialités de la Maison - I've seen two copies of that in the past month!

VogueOnTheRange - Get yourself a copy of "She Cooks To Conquer", a 1950s cookboo; although it's hysterically out of date, the text and illustrations will make you roar!
