The Endangered Two-Toned Varina

I was operating on two and a half hours of sleep, shins throbbing from my Concourse D to Concourse B in Jack Rogers sprint when I spied them walking past in the distance; navy Varina's with a red cap toe...

And, if I hadn't been tied up behind the velvet rope of Delta Customer Service trying to resolve my missed connection, there would've been, at the very least, a pic to go with this tweet. At most, a tackle...

Although I have searched Google high and low, the Red/Black Raffia and Patent...

Along with the sighhh Black/Toast combo, are the closest I've come to finding the obviously endangered two-toned Varina. I think I could learn to make do...

Kindness of anyone who may have any intel on the navy and red cap toe Varina I think I saw through my haze of missed connection tears and rage for piping up before they're totally extinct...XXOO

  2. I see a red Varina w/ navy cap toe, but not in the reverse of your dreams. I also see a leopard w/ black Varina captoe, wow.

  3. I'll be honest, I have not seen a navy Varina either, but it sure sounds cute! Maybe a custom or European store exclusive?

  4. Did you check with a store?

There is one at The Westchester....you could have them by sundown!

  5. Honestly, I don't get why everyone is so obsessed with Varinas. Sure, they're good looking but they are so stiff and uncomfortable. What am I missing?

  6. Mostly the good looking part. And, true that they are stiff but, considering my 20 year old stacked heel F's are thee MOST comfortable shoes I own, I'm holding out hope that all they need are a good breaking in...XXOO

  7. "Just got a heads up that the site is Chinese and it's highly likely they're counterfeit Ferragamos."

Ugh. My apologies. Had no clue!

  9. I have the stacked heel F's I bought 3 years ago too and cannot wear them because they are miserably uncomfortable. If I'm going to buy stiff, uncomfortable, cheap looking leather shoes, I'd rather go to Marshall's and pay $49for them instead of $400.

Maybe Ferragamo is just coasting on its reputation these days which is a shame because some of the shoes are classically good looking.

Any other suggestions for two tone shoes? I'm looking for some too.

  13. Varinas fit totally differently than Varas. I agree with both your comments, Verb, but unfortunately, they are true, true and unrelated. The higher heeled Varas are, indeed, the most comfortable shoe around and got me through years on my feet as a private practice physician. The Varinas are as stiff as a board, do not (repeat DO NOT) get better with age and kill my feet every time I try to wear them. I thought I had solved the problem when I returned my usual 7 1/2B for 8B but larger did not translate to more flexible.

  14. Those red ones look great but better not leave them out if you find them ; that raphia stuff looks like something my own cat would very much enjoy chewing !

  15. The shoes you're looking for might be the ferragamo cettina flats. They come in two tone navy and red.
