Downton Fever

Christmas tree shhhmistmas tree, it's t-minus 34 days til season 2 of Downton Abbey starts on PBS and I have yet to finish Season 1...

And, I'd say the tree will have to wait til the weekend while I catch up on my remaining episodes but, the Dowager Countess may give me a withering, What is a weekend?

Kindness of the Dowager Countess for her endless pearls of wisdom. Which reminds me, I'll have to let Emma and Hilbils know for future reference that "only parlor maids have long engagements. Ladies say yes and get on with it."  Got that girlies? XXOO

*Speaking of wisdom, swing by QBS's for some shared by this soon to be Dowager if I keep Counting Hermès scarves...

  2. Consider yourself lucky mon amie that you have the time to enjoy such endeavors. As a student I am not afforded such luxuries! Is insanity still, well, insane?

  5. I DON'T have time for my li'l luxuries anymore and it's killinggg me. I kid you not that it was merely 2 Sundays ago that I literally drew tears over not having time to either needlepoint or watch Downton Abbey much to Babe's amusement. Life should be so rough for all, huh?
And, Insanity is even more insane cuz I keep stopping and starting. Baaack to starting againg this morn...XXOO

  6. OMG how have you notfinished Season 1?? Sooooo good. I have the original UK version ready to go under the not-yet-purchased Fraser fir for whenever I need a Downton fix (and so that I can get rid of it on the DVR). And I'm counting down the days for Season 2! Rumor has it that the series was always envisioned as being 3 Seasons.

  7. Alice,
Nothing like a good laugh in the morning with you and the Countess. I loved the first season and can't wait for more! You are too funny with the video of Maggie Smith and the 'American chair' and of course your advice, per the Countess, to your neices....the best. I guess I'm doomed to be a parlor maid.

    Warmly, K

  14. LOVE Downton Abbey!!! I have spread the love by getting three friends and my mother addicted as well. Heading to London on Wednesday for a girls' trip with a friend... where I'm sure we will have many discussions on DA over cocktails.

  16. The thought of becoming even remotely like the Dowager Countess is certainly something to look forward to in my old age. I'm starting to practice the "withering glance" and it has come in quite handy.

  17. The Dowager steals the show in many an episode. She reminds me of my grandmother. That was the perfect clip. What a perfect role for Maggie Smith. I'm really looking forward to Season 2. Has the date been released yet? I'm thinking January.
