This was just as exciting as the time I discovered Goo Gone...
And, nooobody likes things Spic 'n Span clean like moi sooo, the very next day, my task that began with one pot...
My Bar Keepers Friend could not resurrect the Simplex English Whistling Teapot I recently offed when I forgot to put water in before boiling. I think it may be time to plan the funeral...
Kindness of my Dad for my new Bar Kepper's Friend OCD tool and anyone who knows where I can find a new Simplex English Whistling Teapot in chrome that doesn't cost as much as an actually flight to London...XXOO
I use Bar Keeper's Friend when I can't find Zud. Both are wonderful.
ReplyDeleteI love Goo Gone too!
ReplyDeleteI have never heard of it...but will definitely be looking out for it!
ReplyDeleteI use BKF all the time. Did you know it comes in a liquid formula? They have it at WS. Your pots look great!
ReplyDeleteWe have gone through a few kettles...someone keeps forgetting they put it on to boil and it boils dry!
ReplyDeleteIt's worth its weight in gold! Best also for your Le Creuset pots too!
ReplyDeleteNot sure if my comment went thru.....have you tried chrome polish on your kettle? Boat or auto supply stores should carry it.
ReplyDeleteLove Bar Keepers. Its great.
ReplyDeleteSo glad to know I am not the only one who absent-mindedly messes up lovely, expensive kitchen items.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the Bar Keeper hint.
LOVE this stuff. When I was on Nate Berkus, I made a comment about my bar keeper's secret and got a ton of e-mails asking what it was. I use it on my copper. Hate the new liquid stuff though, only use the powder.
ReplyDeleteAll I know is I need one of those pot lid organizers!!!!!
ReplyDeleteYou are so clever, thank you for the BKF tip...just received my first All Clad pots and pans at my shower on Saturday, so I am sure it will come in handy!
ReplyDeleteI nasty looking (aka baked on/caked-on) metal items a light blast of OVEN CLEANER and stick them in a slighly warm oven for 15-ish minutes.
ReplyDeleteTake them out and wipe them clean. Cookie sheets, tea kettles, can openers, scissors, the toaster, bottoms/backs of pots and pans... nothing is safe from this treatment.
BKF is the best stuff on the planet - not only fantastic on SS, but keeps my copper looking brand new. And removes rust - it's magic in a can. I agree though, the liquid version is a total waste of time, stick with the original powder. Oh - and it's always cheaper at Target than anywhere else.
ReplyDeleteYou just saved my lovely (but currently a tad tarnished) pots and pans! Thank you, thank you!
ReplyDeleteTry as hard as you can to salvage that kettle, replacements are currently unavailable because the company who manufactured it for Simplex has gone out of business. This bit of bad news was cobbled together from much googling, I wanted one too but they're all sold out and not in production....YET....because hopes are that a new company will manufacture the kettle, so time will tell.
ReplyDeleteI definitely have pot envy! What a collection you have, little Missy! Thanks for the rec for BKF. I have been using Cameo, but will give BKF a try!
ReplyDeletePutting a little elbow grease into a well made pot pr pan always reminds me of my grandmother. I sometimes think I get more satisfaction out of a task like that or organizing the pantry (which I just finished) more than a great shopping find...almost.
ReplyDeleteAre you for hire? Please tell Babe your are a "keeper!"
ReplyDeletepve
I've tried it yesterday- and got great results. Thank you!!!

I love BKF for stainless and my LeCreuset. Your pots and pans collection is enviable.
