A Christmas Break Break

Well my li'l chickadees, I've decided to extend my vacation through this week. Christmas was an absolute blur of packing, unpacking, repacking, going, coming, going again; G'wich to the beach to Baltimore to NYC baaack to the beach to Salisbury to the beach again annnd final stop G'wich. I over ate, over drank and over packed. I did not send out Christmas cards, workout, get a full night's sleep, crack any one of the 15 magazines I packed or watch a single Christmas movie. I need this time to recalibrate...

Buuut...since my largest concentration of readers happens to be in Manhattan, I would feel remiss if I didn't mention the Daphne Guinness exhibit at the Museum at FIT which ends this coming Saturday. Def a must see...

Brief pit stop at Amazon pour moi to load this into my cart and then I'm off to plot my week of long runs in my new tights, a massage appointment, The Family Stone on Demand, needlepointing, a hot chocolate date with May December, PVE and The Zhush, a marathon of Downton Abbey, strolling 'round the blogging hood, hunting down the sold out navy and gold Hermès click clack and that stinking nightstand, finding a church, a dermatologist and proper winter jackets, not having salad for dinz, sleeping in, switching from this lousy cable to FIOS annnd booking a flight to Mexico. Cue the sweatpants!

Kindness of Babe for encouraging this small break and everyone else for indulging it...XXOO

  1. Happy New Year! My dear friend is hunting down her black and gold click clack (sold out currently, according to Chicago), and I am hunting down a new needlepoint equestrian pillow canvas. ('Tho I am a new Bostonian, the KY girl in me can't let go of my thoroughbred/saddlebred love!) Not to pile on extra work for your already tres busy 2012, but have you seen these custom pillow needlepoint canvases:

  2. I have been meaning to thank you for introducing me to Downton Abbey, one of my greatest tv joys EVER!

Welcome back, and get some rest!

  4. Nancy, tell your friend I'm pretty certain I saw at least one black/gold med width click clack combo at the Mad Ave store last week. She should also try the Tyson's Corner Hermès cuz I swear they consistently have the largest collection of bracelets of any of the stores I've been too, including Paris. Also, those canvases are tdf! Esp the Full Cry stocking and English Hunt pillow. I have a belt I did in that pattern I bought from Elizabeth Turner Collection in Lexington, KY.

And Max, whaaaa...??? I politely left out the part about the new Hermès shawl Santa brought me :)

  5. What sort of church are you looking for? As a lifelong Greenwich resident, I may be able to help. Happy New Year!

  6. Episcopal. And, can I just tell you that I had Babe drive me past the Family Stone house last night and I've watched the movie TWICE since! I have a miiiillion burning questions; like, is that the real interior? Does the family still live there? What jewelry store and pizzeria are those? And, when they show shots of the "downtown" area where is that cuz it's not G'wich...XXOO

  8. The "downtown" in family stone is madison, nj. the jewelry store is rose city jewelers in madison, nj. when claire danes gets off the bus at the "bus stop" that is really at drew university in madison. the inn that the two morton sisters stay at is just a building on drew's campus as well. when ben and the father go to smoke by the football field that is on fairleigh dickenson university's campus.

  9. I'm glad anon was able to answer the location questions because I was unable to figure them out. The house interior was used for some scenes. The family that owns it now is not the same family. It was on the market a few years ago and I got to go in. Fabulous!
As for churches. My Episicopalian friends (I'm catholic) love St.Paul's in Riverside (down the street from the Family Stone house). It's a great smaller church with a fabulous community. On a larger scale, Christ Church on the Post Rd is wonderful. My dcs went there for Nursery School. It's much bigger than St. Paul's but also very nice.

  11. The DG sounds excellent - thank you for sharing. Your hot chocolate date sounds like a terrific meeting of the minds. I am back at work after a break but love my new position so much... I never did get as involved with my blog as I'd originally planned. In any event, your and Melissa's blogs are de rigeur pour moi, most especially yours as I start so very early each day. I hope you enjoy your rejuvenating break - and I look forward to visiting The Village Ewe this weekend and your posts next week!

  14. I would love to start needlepoint can you clue me in on what I need for starter? And where to get patterns that are cute? 15. Jennifer, I have bought the majority of my needlepoint belt kits from the Elizabeth Turner Collection out of Lexington, KY. They have a website or you could just pop into any local needlepoint shop and check out their selection. Just choose a canvas and ask to have it "kitted". You'll have to choose which type of yarn/thread you want, e.g., wool, cotton, silk and ivory...It's best to ask to person kitting it for you their suggestion but, personally my fav is silk and ivory. Feels like cashmere. And, you will become OBSESSED! Mark my words :)

  17. Okay, I must be slipping because I am not really familiar with this Daphne Guiness. Or if I am, I've forgotten. Although I think she is in the Bright Young Things book?...Must check. Feel left out.
