Shark Scarf Week: The Hermès 90cm

I know too many people with gorgeous Hermès scarves collecting dust in drawers and closets cuz they don't know how to wear them. Quelle horreur! No body puts Baby Hermès in the corner!

The trick for any scarf wielding neophyte, is to first get familiar with a basic knot or two, like these. Once you're comfortable tossing this look on with just about anything, button downs, dresses, sweaters, tees..., then you can worry about adding more knots to your arsenal. And, more Hermès scarves to your closet...

*Disclaimer: please excuse the quality of video as my cameraman didn't return from his day job til 10pm and musta left his A game at the office. As to the quality of my star power, this is post evening 5 miler, jammies on, jammies off, dirty clothes back on, let's make this fast cuz I'm missing Real Housewives annnd ACTION...

Kindness of my dear friend Joanie DiNardo who was thee very first person I knew to throw an Hermès scarf on as casually as she would a necklace. Introducer to Belgies AND effortless scarf wearing makes for one mighty impressive CV in my book Joanie Balonie...XXOO

  1. You have a wonderfully cooperative husband (kitties are just plain fun).

Merci for part II. Looking forward to tomorrow's post already!

  2. Très bien, Madame.

I would be curious to hear how you store your scarves, too. I only have a few, so it's easy to keep them in their boxes. But one more and I might need to graduate to some other method. And Christmas is coming...

  3. A,
My one beautiful Hermes scarf, which has been sitting in my closet for quite sometime ( can you see in there?) will now be brought out. I can do those knots!!!! I like the first one the best. Thank your for 'upgrading' us all. Your co-stars are gorgeous...the lion cuts grew out beautifully. Babe is a good sport, too. Can we hear him sometime on a vblog? Maybe a Christmas abroad duet? I'm impressed with the CV comment. No one ever knows what I'm talking about when I say that!

    Warmly, K

  6. That's what I am wearing this morning, but i did it the way you put it front to back and then tie the ends in a square knot (right over left and under, left over right and under) in the front.

  8. Loving these videos - between your demonstrations and the glimpses of the audience members, I don't know which I'm enjoying more!

I particularly liked today's demo - just got a new silk scarf, and I'll be using your methods soon. It's not Hermes - it's a McQueen skull scarf and it will look great using your knots!

  9. This rules! Love these scarf knot vids! Better than the lil Hermes booklet :) Sporting a tissuey pewter lurex scarf right now, just to dress up the ol' yoga pants and long cardi for the sbux run...

  11. These are great, you do it pretty effortlessly too. Maybe I'll start wearing mine and those pilfered from mom/grammie. Was always worried they looked too old fashioned/old ladyish, not so much! thanks

  12. So unbelievably chic (and a knot I did not know). I'd love to see you do a segment on Twillys because mine have been feeling uninspired lately!

  13. Something happened to my comment from yesterday...I love the helpers and especially love today's "Pan to cat". I have tons of scarves but can never wear them so that they don't look like a hunk of material on my neck/shoulders. Hopefully this and and the rest of Shark Scarf Week will change that. Please, more SIAV TV! If you are not discovered by way of this, perhaps a Fancy Feast scout will discover Lolly and Pilge!

  15. Good one on ya Babe! It's clear how much he loves the kitties too. You are so flippin' cute on camera AliVonAwesomeness! Love Scarf Week. *roars with laughter* I covet my scarves and have worn them the same two ways foreve's. Maybe people will stop calling me a flight attendant when I wear the new looks now. Merci!

  16. I'm sorry but I am still laughing about the way you nonchalantly started the folding lesson draping the beautiful Hermes over your cat! Who BTW didn't budge. That was hilarious! And the scarf folding lesson was great too.

  17. Loved every second of this! Not only the scarf tying part but how you start with the scarf on Pilge(I think) and how Babe adds some great cat footage throughout the video. Priceless.
