Daily Crushes

When I was chillaxin' in Mexico sighhh I got a sweet tweet from one Katie Carlin of Daily Crush telling me she loved my blog and was my newest follower. Well, right back at ya Missy...

Literally. Cuz I was all of about 30 seconds in to snooping around her site before I zeroed in on her GiGi New York All in One Bag post and was sweating the color choices...

Since I had bigger fish to tan at the time, I decided to put my trust into Katie's obvious good taste...

In other words, color me copy cat...

UVA orange on deck. Then indigo. Then black. Then...

Graphic Image has generously offered 20% off with the code SUMMER and it's valid for a month. A MONTH!  Do you know how much damage I can do in a month? See y'all several colors from now...

Kindness of Katie from the Daily Crush blog for helping me find her annnd making my fuchsia color choice for me, ultimately preserving some très valuable pth time...XXOO

Ledbury Referral Scheme

Somebody musta given the Easter Bunny a heads up on Babe's fondness for Ledbury cuz his shared basket with the Ti-Babes had a couple a new shirts, including the Hatton, competing with valuable mouse real estate...

And now, for the month of April, Ledbury is offering $50 off a first time purchase when referred by a compulsive Ledbury buyer, such as moi, who will receive a $50 store credit for the favor...

Sooo...according to my Google Analytic calculations, and Machiavellian mustache-twirling, if I can refer even half my readership, I could not only have Babe's Ledbury birthday picks all cinched up...

I could potentially keep him in Ledbury for years to come. Mmmwaaahahaha...Mmmwaaahahaha...cough cough Cadbury cough C  r  i  m  e   E  g  g  cough...

Kindness of anyone who would like to see Babe in Ledbury up to his eyeballs a referral from moi for sending their email address to me at pinkandgreen@gmail.com...XXOO

Spring Lillies

Nothing heralds Spring more than loading up on the season's Lilly offerings...

Last year's fav print was the Dark 'n Stormy and, thus far this year, the honor's going to Call Me Kitty Cat and I've snatched it up in the Delia dress...

With Lilly Pulitzer I've learned that I fare better with in store shopping otherwise I end up not as enamored with something I spied online while conversely all over something that originally had me turning my nose up. Buuut, I took a gamble on the Trophy polo and came out a winner...

I love, love, LOVE these shirts and chances are high that I will wear them in. to. thee. ground. And, fyi, they also come in a slew of other prints and are not your average fat day polo. These puppies require you at your leanest and meanest...

A couple  of Tate skirts in Multi Lillys State of Mind Patch...

And, Bright Navy Yum Yum for maximum exposure of tanned Insanity please God toned limbs...

If not, then the Lana top in Turquoise Jungle Glam Toile and white jeans 'tis!

Babe was heroic enough to fight off a gaggle of teens all vying for the last Eco cup in my requested Resort White Chum Bucket on the shelf so I could sip my Coke Lites on la playa in style...

Natch, being the weensie glutton that I am, I promptly double dipped upon landing Stateside scoring another in Multi Sweet Begonia. Hmmm...wonder how many $15 Eco cup purchases it takes to trigger a Mint.com flag? One...two...

Kindness of the girls at G'wich Lilly for their sweet help and Babe for seriously going to bat with some "on a mission" girls to score my coveted Resort White Chum Bucket cup. Even though he did say "no thank you" when asked for his address to be entered into a Breakers vacay sweepstakes. Pshaw, who needs four days of luxury in Palm Beach anyway? XXOO

Goodie Queue

Here are five goodies that are currently on the SIAV radar...

Anyone who devoured Isabel Gillies Happens Every Day in "a day" as I did will be just as thrilled to hear she has a new book out, A Year and Six Seconds...

The Four Majors belt just in time for the holy weekend and the bff's hub's Easter basket. Babe's gonna have to hold out for my custom needlepoint edition...

Literally, the day my scout Ali sent the link to Jack Foxley and the Times article on his custom suede elbow patches, I end up standing next to a prepster at the Shell station wearing the softest grey cashmere sweater with gaping holes in both elbows. So, I paid it forward. Much to the relief of his two VV decked pre-teens who are apparently remiss to be seen in public with said sweater...

K, well I was supposed to meet Jessica of the entertaining house last week for the naptime chef book signing several towns over but, kinda got waylaid. Guess I'll have to settle for a pedestrian unsigned copy with the rest of the hoi polloi...

so sorry i was a no show last pm jess. was trying to quickly and efficiently cook and serve dinz so that i could head to westport just as 95 traffic would be ebbing when all hell broke loose. i put the garlic bread slices under the broiler to lightly toast and turned my back for juuuuust a wee sec and before i knew it smoke was billowing out, the fire alarm bit** started screaming FIRE, EVACUATE, FIRE, EVACUATE...and, unfortunately, are alarm system is integrated throughout the entire house which means the family living on the first 2 floors were getting the same message soooo, now we've got smoke filling the house, the bit** still yelling at us to EVACUATE and the columbian nanny downstairs running screaming into the street w/5 pajama clad boys all under 9 whose parents are out of town. but, she did manage to grab the phone on her way out so she could call 911. oy. so, after babe calmed her down, convinced the fire dept his wife had just burnt some bread and they could could pull the trucks back into the firehouse, i beat the crap outta the alarm bit**, started airing out the house, then sent babe back to the store for another loaf of italian bread, i kinda lost what little wind i had left in my sails. plus, i'm pretty sure i smelled like kramer when he cooked his clothes in the calzone oven :(

Personally, I can not conjure up a legacy I would possibly be prouder of. How cool is she?!

*Please click on the above link to watch the video in full screen with Katherine's entire face. Stinkin' blogger...

Kindness of my friend and old post dawn runner partner, Joanie DiNardo, for sending me the above clip, Jessica Ryan for understanding why I was a book signing no-show as long as I promised to blog about it, Ali Culver for the Jack Foxley intel, Masters baby, QBS,  for the Four Majors belt find annnd (BIG iiiiiinhale) Whitney for the Isabel Gillies new book alert. Lest, I forget Babe, for running back to the store for another loaf of Italian bread...XXOO

My High Note

Julia and Allison, the pretty blonds over at Tartans and Sequins, deserve an Oscar for verbal effects. Not only was I unbeeelievably flattered to be their Girl Crush of the Week but, they cleaned me up so well with their kind words that I'm thinking I should do like George Costanza and go out on a high note...

Long live the Queen!
We are most honored to introduce you to this week's girl crush, the ultra fab Alice Richardson of Summer is a Verb!  Can we be totally honest here? The opportunity to feature this week's Girl Crush feels a lot like having the Queen swing by our humble beach shanty for tea Diet Coke. Take a moment and bow to the Queen. Go ahead, we're totally bowing. Her effortlessly preppy style and eternally perfect tan initially caught our eye, but it was her wit and charm that kept us hooked (ex: she dressed her cats up like Big Edie and Little Edie. The pictures in that post are not to be missed). In addition to her good looks, charm and wit, she has the inside scoop on all the preppiest trends and brands, which we of course LOVE!

Her blog Summer is a Verb chronicles her fabulous life as "a tongue-in-cheek bon vivant living in Greenwich, CT with my globe trotting husband Babe and our nutty Himalayans, George and Lolly Rockefeller. Rendezvous with me, an old school prep, as I juggle aspirations of being on the "Best Dressed Parisienne Gypset List", endless summering, Hermès wish lists, Diet Coke and pretzel lunches, white bikinis, PTH's, sisters, nieces, bff's, all things Lilly, Mrs. Roper and the resurrection of the Jacques Cohen espadrille."

Basically, we pray five times a day in the direction of her Hermés vaults in Greenwich (wouldn't the security guards' outfits be amazing in the Hermés vault? I digress!).  Enjoy getting to know our favorite, (and soon to be your favorite, too!) the ever-so-chic Alice Richardson!

Style icons? Jackie O and my friend Dorli's mother, Coco. They exude thee most harmonious blending of sporty American and European élan that has taken me yeeeaaars to cultivate. It's that perfect storm of tan limbs, pearls and old khakis with Pucci, Canforas and Hermès kerchiefs. Toss in Carolyn Bessette Kennedy's love of the Petit Bateau tee and Mrs. Roper's fondness for the caftan and you'd have my ultimate fashion love child...

Design philosophy?
  1. Art takes priority over furniture in our house. A Kevin Fitzgerald feeds our soul way more than having enough seating ever could.
  2. I'd rather go without than settle. Which would explain why my bedside RL lamp is sitting on the floor while I continue my search for the perfect nightstand.
  3. Learn to live with your beautiful things. Lolly has made a p/t job of perforating our linen headboard with her nails but, I far prefer being awakened each morn by her sweet, post scale crowing to having a hole-less headboard.
  4. Don't invest in large pieces if there's still some apartment dwelling in your future. We learned this the hard way when our over sized white sofa wouldn't fit through our G'town front door.

Babygirl working those Roger Vivier flats with the perfect accessory...a killer tan!
Favorite book of all time? While most kids were getting Fun With Dick and Jane before bed, my Mother was reading to me from Kipling and Jane Eyre. Little Women is the first book I recall her reading that I got completely lost in and, it also led to my attempt to sleep with a clothes pin on my nose.

Best advice you ever received? All those morsels of wisdom my Mother trotted out ad nauseum growing up, or as my sister fondly says, Mom thinks she's sitting on a mountain top;  What goes around comes around, Don't blow out someone else's candle to make your own burn brighter and the perennial fav, This too shall pass. It always does, doing so gets you no where and, oh, I guess it did.

Praying to the Scarf Gods that Babe lets her go in the Paris Hermés store unsupervised.
Favorite stores? That'd be the HermèsRalphLaurenLillyPulitzerCalypso store. Know of it?

Dream place to live? Oceanfront with our families and bff's all living on the same street. Especially if that street happened to be Gin Lane.

I mean...is she serious with that hair and that tan? Keeping people safe never looked so good!
The one product you're obsessed with right now? Mario Badescu's Seaweed Night Cream. I've received so many compliments on my skin since using it that I've started slathering it in the morning as well. Next up, rolling in it.

Biggest indulgence? Yves Delorme 500 thread count bed linens and botox. Both cost a king's ransom, require a lot of maintenance and once you've indulged, there's no turning back.

Girl crush? Oh, I've already put in my request to come back as Gwyneth Paltrow in my next life. She's the whole pretty, smart, refined, funny, talented package. Not to mention best buds with Valentino and Reese.

Favorite song? The bff is gonna scream foul if I don't cop to Bruce Springsteen's Tunnel of Love. That song played on a loop for so long when we were living together in our early 20's that I'd place money on her insisting it be worked into my funeral procession should she outlive me. I'd like to take this opportunity to request she also add Skynard's Tuesday's Gone and The Ballad of Curtis Loew to the lineup.

Prized possession? Well, I've experienced a plane losing it's lift and several, middle of the night fire alarm awakenings so, I know firsthand that your true prized possessions, where your immediate thoughts land, are your loved ones and pets. Buuut, just in case my luck should run, out I formally bequeath my 13 pair of Canfora sandals to my size 9 niece Emma.

Nothing better than a blonde with a dark tan wearing an armful of pearls and gold!
Current hangout? At my desk in the guest room with Pilgie and Lolly just a pinning away.

Motto? It's the accumulation of many small decisions over time, more so than the few big ones, that ultimately chart the course of your life.

Being so fabulous is exhausting!
Best place on earth? In bed with Babe and the Ti-Babes on our freshly ironed, a buck for every thread count sheets, right before we all fall to sleep.

Favorite drink? Water. Such a surfer answer.

If this were a picture of either of us, we'd blow it up to life size and hang it in our homes in the path of maximum foot traffic. It would also be every year's Holiday card, forever.
Be sure to check out The Divine Ms. Alice's blog, Summer is a Verb (as if you're not already reading it religiously)! We'd like to give a huge thank you and many xo's to Alice for being so gracious, funny and sweet - and for not being weirded out that we emailed her re: our crush on her. You're the best in the biz, Alice!

Kindness of West Coast girls, Julia and Allison of Tartan & Sequins. Weirded out, are y'all for realz? It was an honor. A feather in my cap. A cap that I will no longer be able to leave the house without if I want to keep your hip rendering of moi intact. I'll become the Greta Garbo of the blogger world. All incognito in my Hermès kerchiefs and Jackie O shades, making Diet Coke and Megamillion ticket runs just to keep the myth alive...XXOO

Bandito Haul

I made out like a bandito in Mexico!

I hauled back a pale pink freshwater pearl necklace that can be worn as a single, double or triple strand...

A couple of fun summer bracelets...

Long, beaded tassel necklaces, with a muchos gracias nod to Gwynnie and her ruby version oh so many Oscars ago...

A hand embroidered, long dress which I had them shorten to above the knee for me...

A hand embroidered blouse...

Annnd, a custom painted, just por mi, tortilla warmer and condiments serving dish, neither of which Leels could squeeze herself into like last time and the time before. Although, sheee triiieeed...

After that bitter disappointment, we reassessed the situation...

Maybe it was meant for her to eat out of?

Maybe it was for her to play the shell game with her treat?

Or, maybe she should let Mummy know she was hurt with her obvious oversight in the travel gift department and make her promise to bring back a platter big enough for a growing li'l girl next year...

*Btw, all that fabulous loot...somewhere in the neighborhood of 3000 pesos. Which, converts to less than 300 buckeroos. Which, converts to dirt cheap. Which, converts to Babe breathing a sigh of relief. La Cucarachaaa...la cucurachaaa...ya no puede caminarrr...porque le falta, porque no tieneee...marihuana pa' fumarrrr...

Kindness of everyone for not pointing out the tan/no tan stripes on my neck. Shameful amateur mistake having my head buried in books and needlework the majority of pth's. Alsooo...for understanding my need to go down to 3 posts/week seeing that Babe is now home weeknights. And, NOT so I can spend more time on Pinterest AT ALL. No way José...XXOO

My Welcome Home

The first 6 days I was gone the report from home was cheerful; Babe was getting up early each morn to groom the Ti-Babes, clean the litter, refill water bowls, squeeze in a quick workout, ect. On Saturday he even GASP! vacuumed. By Sunday though, it all started going to hell in one big, fat fur ball throw up, Chinese takeout, no clean boxers, we need you to come home basket...

I realized how much I was missed but, this li'l welcome home vignette let me know just how much I am also...

Appreciated...

And, loved...

I went to town on the Cadbury Crime Eggs whilst Lolly went to town on the tulip leaves. Lack of self control runs in the family and now our tummies hurt and our butt's are having trouble squeezing into baskets...

Kindness of Babe, Pilge and Lolly for my thoughtful surprise. Annnd, Ana for coming Thursday morning, Thursday evening, and Friday morning to sterilize the joint for my arrival home...XXOO
