True to a certain chain of email exchanges originating from my end, I did indeed wear the Milly dress found on eBay. Babe thought I looked like a cupcake and, ahhh will forever more refer to it as the cupcake dress...
I actually gasped when the double doors were opened and I caught my first peek of the chicest veil ever. I talked about that veil the entire ride to the reception, scheming how I could integrate one into my wardrobe. Babe handed down a ruling right then and there; "no veils with civilian clothing!" Rats...
Her dress was the most me dress I have ever seen. Coupled with the short veil it was all so (insert highest of compliments) Jackie Kennedy...
I was also privy to the fact that Lizzie had been doing Tracy Anderson arms like religion. Entry added in day planner: pit stop to our storage unit this Friday to unstore my Tracy DVD and three pound weights...
And, as much as I would have liked claiming the crown in my cupcake dress as second best dressed gal I will have to concede that title to the bridesmaids. Jackie Kennedy I'm tellin ya...
It may be impartial but, fairest of them all in the bevy of pink beauties was Maris Madeira of Mason Pearson brush fame...
And the cake...I had had my eye on this pink confection waaay back when they were just passing the appetizer trays so, it was no surprise, nor shame, when I was first in line post cutting...
After my unladylike display I dragged Babe and Lizzie's dear friend, "fashionable Caroline" (as she's been referred to for years), to the best seat in the house so I could kick back and relish my sugar high...
Kindness of Mr. and Mrs. Casey Lawson for including us in your special day and, especially Lizzie for understanding my need to someday borrow the veil as soon as I can figure out which civies to pair it with. And, also to the fashionable Caroline Powell for rescuing me when my camera battery died. I truly appreciate all the pics...XXOO
Once I came down it was off to the candy bar with my lil to go box stocking up on goodies for the morning drive home. Well worth Babe's complaining of my candy breath and the self-imposed penance at the gym this week...

A beautiful wedding and a beautiful bride. Loved your "cupcake" dress!
ReplyDeleteWhat a beaufitul wedding!
ReplyDeleteThe bridesmaids dresses are Jenny Yoo. I own that style in navy and it translates well as a general cocktail dress.
ReplyDeleteI can definitely identify with the cupcake feeling. For my rehearsal dinner I sported that dress with a very "Kenneth" like bouffant, and my grandmother's charm bracelet. I felt very Jackie.
ReplyDeleteThe wedding looked beautiful! As did you- love the fur stole. I am so excited for cold weather to sport mine.
Beautiful!!! (you AND the whole wedding!)......
ReplyDeleteAnd Plum Sykes caught the bouquet!!! heehee
looks tres elegant!
ReplyDeleteyou must stop over at "dust jacket attic" for a summer high! thought of you immediately!
pve
My sister was married at Sacred Heart! I love that church. It's just the right size. Where was the reception?
ReplyDeleteThe church was gorgeous and totally romantic at night! And, the reception was at The Engineers Club at the Garrett-Jacobs Mansion. Very shwanky...XXOO
ReplyDeleteWhat a great post…I love the bride's dress and Your outfit was tres chic! I am going to see fashionable Carolyn tomorrow. xx
ReplyDeleteDear Allie,
ReplyDeleteLovely lovely lovely. The bride's dress is beautiful. If Babe thinks you look like a cupcake that must mean he thinks you look delicious. Thanks for sharing, Denise
Gorgeous, gorgeous, gorgeous. Looks like a society wedding at its best. Love your stole:).
ReplyDeleteLove all the pictures, just beautiful. And, I will be ordering that video pronto!
ReplyDelete"No veils with civilian clothing!"
ReplyDeleteNo truer words have ever been spoken.
Allie-- Your cupcake dress is a dream! You are the icing on the cupcake!
ReplyDeleteLove the bride's candy bar! And her dress is exquisite--Jackie would indeed have loved her veil. Where was the location? The interior is gorgeous! xoxo
Why do I have an image in my mind's eye of Mrs. Wallis Simpson aka The Duchess of Windsor wearing small veils with her tailored suits in the 30s? Ring a bell? ox
ReplyDeleteGorgeous wedding.
ReplyDeleteLove your style! (been reading for a while; first time commenter)
Wondering - do you wear a wedding band? I (boldly) ask as I'm ring shopping and want something classic and sophisticated, but not the traditional engagement ring. So, I'm always paying extra attention to the hands of stylish women.
Cheers!!
Yes, Cricket I do wear a wedding band and it is somewhat untradtional. It's Elsa Peretti's wave ring in 18 karat gold found on the Tiffany's website. I love, love, love my ring and it looks fabulous with a tan and a bikini :)
ReplyDeleteLove that ring and hadn't looked at it before! Thanks. I've been really focused on Cartier, the Maillon Panthere. I've tried it on a couple of times now and my boyfriend loves it too. It might be the one!
ReplyDeleteLove your dress! It looks like it was a fabulous wedding!
ReplyDeleteWhat a gorgeous wedding! Love her dress and, yes, the veil is divine. The bridesmaids dresses are fab, too - they have pockets!
ReplyDeleteShrine of Sacred Heart is my second favorite church in Baltimore - the most wonderful is Corpus Christi in Bolton Hill - a must see for the Tiffany windows!
ReplyDeleteILLG... I agree! And the reception at the Garrett-Jacobs mansion is to die for, it's so stunning!!!
ReplyDeleteAllie- What footwear did you chose to marry with the cupcake? ;)
ReplyDeleteGrab your December 2009 Town and Country (I know you must have it) and turn to page 62. Voila - a lovely lady workin' a veil with civies . . . Albeit a bit modified.
ReplyDeleteGood luck in your quest.
