Tisk Tisk Yourself Funnyman!!!

Last month when I posted this picture, ADG, in true smartypants fashion, left me the comment, "just noticed vertical blinds...tisk tisk..."

Haaahhh...It's a beach house rental Mister Fancy Slippers and, trust me, there are worse decor crimes being committed in this 70's pad than the verticals. But what, may I ask, is your excuse for having a FOOT TATTOO??? Hellooo Belgian wearing pot, meet kettle...

Predictably, yaaawn, taunting followed with pics of Pier One sisal verticals...diagnosis that my "emotional wobbliness", although mostly grief, was laced with "vertical blindness"...and another below the needlepoint belter about how I could have replaced those verticals with the $$$$ I spent at "bikini town"...

Max, Max, Max (I've dropped the "y" outta respect)...maybe ya should spend less time on your "verticals" skit and a smidge more time on replacing those WIRE HANGERS!!!

Yup, it's aaallll fun and games til somebody needs a sponsor cuz their custom Ralph Lauren pants arrive and they realize they may end up on A&E's Intervention. Don't look at me bub, I've vowed to go cold turkey after my Pucci spree...

And, if you do end up on the 5th floor at Sibley, for goodness sake don't mention that I helped you find the sold out Lilly Daiquiri Pink Ten Ton shorts! Your "fourth cousin in consuming" AllieVonSpendaGrand does not, I repeat, DOES NOT have a problem. I just shop socially...

Kindness of Maxminimus for giving me more fodder than I could ever possibly use. Fortunately, I'm a master story weaver as well as world class consumer. Now, excuse me while I go get under my "rental house viscose-dacron comforter" and go to sleep...XXOO

Verticals And Other Sins Of The Beach House

Ole Maxminimus is fond of taunting me with the occasional vertical blind picture text in reference to our beach house rental's decor. Or lack there of...

Now, Babe has made me sweeear on a stack of bibles that I will not sink any funds into what is a temporary living situation for us but, there are some sins that I just can not overlook. One of them being these 30 year old bar stools with the peek-a-boo foam...

What I'd really like are a couple of these...

Tossing in four of these for the dining table while we're at it...

Buuut, since there's a looming trip to Paris on the horizon, I've been toeing the line. So, instead I pulled a Martha with one of our retired cowhide rugs...

One old rug, 24 hours, and a mere $50 later et voilà...

Not quite the look I would aspire to...

But, much better. And, all's still quiet on the Parisienne front if ya get my drift...

Kindness of a certain Belgian shod gorilla texter who will kindly refrain from sending me pictures of carpet remnants after spying the above photos. You know how I ignore those heinous stains? I walk out my front door and onto the beach...XXOO

What'chu Talkin' 'Bout Willis Hat Back On

Back to the 'splainin board cuz it's evident from yesterday's comments and emails that quite a few people are scratching their heads at our rental lifestyle...

From our li'l Farmington estate cottage during the Med School years in C'ville, through our G'town weensie but cute condo stint, to our current 70's furnished, vertical blinds and 30 year old stained carpet beach house digs, Babe and I have made a conscious decision to rent...

We are big believers in prioritizing and, throughout our marriage, have seamlessly worked as a team keeping our priorities aligned...

And, while we have dreams of someday owning and having me break the bank decorating something all ours, we understand that if that is what we made our priority in the short term, that is what we would get...

Sooo, when I ran out of my pretty Preppy Cards mailing labels back in December, I didn't place a reorder solely for one reason; if our goal was for Babe to make a career move and land his dream job but, I was planning on living here at the beach long enough to utilize all these labels, my thoughts and actions weren't aligned. Capiche?

Now you know...as we begin our search for yet another estate cottage/carriage house (use of the tennis courts and pool always welcome!) in Greenwich it's cuz we've got Gin Lane bigger fish to fry...

Disclaimer: Sorry for any confusion in yesterday's post but the house pic'd was the Greenwich home and front door of my good friend Dorli whose father said, "whoooo??? NO!" SLAMMMMM!!! when Billy Joel's peeps came a callin'...

Kindness of Babe for not breaking out in a cold sweat as he sneaks a 9pm West Coast time peek at today's post and sees me revealing a trade secret in my 70's, free love, Kelly Killoren Bensimon-ish, uncomfortable for his buttoned-up self way. Love you Babe! Hurry home to me, Pilge and Lolls here at the commune...XXOO
