Babe's Valentine Swag

Well, we heard all your requests and protests...

So, I roused the troops for a quick share of Babe's Valentine swag...

I mentioned earlier loving this Four Majors belt but, knowing Babe's fondness for sportin' ribbon had long ago waned, needlepoint was the obvious default...

I worked with a custom painter at The Village Ewe in Old G'wich emailing pics and requests and tweak after annoying tweak after just one more eensie tweak...

Including leaving a space for me to attempt Necessary-and-Proper's shmancy like monogram...

Et voilĂ !

We have the Masters, the US Open, the British Open, the PGA and thee Major himself all representin'...

A king's ransom worth of Vineyard Silk later...

And, all that's left is for me to finish stitching my way through my not so li'l Christmas ornament project that that trouble maker over at Summer In Newport roped me into annnd Babe's belt should be completed just in time to be re gifted next Valentine's Day...

Meanwhile, back at the ranch, the Ti-Babes were not handling the reemergence of the "paps" in their life and, in a page right outta Sean Penn's playbook, Dickie (nickname du jour) made a rude gesture...

And Lolly attacked the photog and her camera. Lucky pour moi there's documentation and I'm currently shopping lawyers. And, TMZ offers...

*FYI Anyone interested in the Four Majors needlepoint canvas can call Estelle at The Village Ewe and ask to have her painter pump out another one. It's $160 un-kitted and around another $75 kitted. I was surprised at the width but, she painted it to be rolled under when finishing which means no binding stitch is necessary. For you showoffs, I'm sure you can just enlarge my pics and count the stitches. Just give me a holler if you need me to email more closeups...

Kindness of Punxsutawney Phil for not seeing his shadow. Otherwise I'd be coming to you from a SAD rehab facility...XXOO

  1. I woke up this morning and knew it was going to be a good day. (Yesterday was 'one of those days) And lo and behold.....a little present from blog heaven, Alice and the beloved Lolly and Pilgie. Of course, you're beloved, too. I can't let Jon see that last photo of Lolly, he'll be so upset. Not his favorite Miss Lolly.

    Thank you, thank you

    Warmest....K

  4. No lie on the king's ransom for the Vinyard Silk! I just started a belt of burgees for my father-in-law, and as a silk thread newbie, was surprised (read shocked)at the price.

    Love Babe's canvas!

  5. Ditto to the others - sounds like you made a lot of mornings! But, what did YOU get? Anything shiny?

  6. Welcome back. Why don't you stay for awhile? Don't be a stranger.

  7. Not shiny but, I got a gorgeous, 100 year old Navajo rug here in Breckenridge that I plan on designing an ottoman around. Post to come once the project is completed...XXOO

  8. What a fabulous idea for the belt!! So much more personal and chic than the ribbon belt. I can't wait to see the monogram. I just started using another silk that I like worlds better than Vineyard- it's called Pepper Pot Silk. It's dreamy. :-) P.S. I know a custom painter in New Hampshire in case you want anything else painted. She's terrific! Has painted lots of things for me. I am pretty sure she'd charge about half of what Village Ewe did.

  11. You're back!!! Hope you have been enjoying your down time and please pop back more regularly to say you are well. the funny thing about following blogs for a number of years is that even though you don't know a person in real life, you start to worry about them if they disappear. As a fellow DC girl moved elsewhere (west Texas for me!) I have so enjoyed staying in touch with the world of prep and Gwyneth via you!

  12. Does this mean you are back? You are such a positive, sunny voice in a world that can be really mean-spirited. Fingers crossed that you are returning, though no pressure. The snarly cat face is priceless. Em

  19. Ah! The above mentioned monogram is actually the insignia for Saucon Valley Country Club in my hometown of Bethlehem, PA. (Smathers & Branson made the belt.) We certainly admire your needlepoint ambitions! Would you mind throwing us a photo credit? Thank you so much, glad to see you're back to posting :) -Necessary & Proper

  20. No problemo. Please accept my infringement apologies as I would've originally credited if I had known the pic wasn't just manna from Pinterest ;)

  21. not to worry, I won't let the cat out of the bag to E.Turner that you did not buy the needlepoint trappings from them. My next trip to KY will be some supplies from that mecca.
