And, you just need to take a sample of the wood in when picking/mixing your paint color so the paint pro, or your designer, can make sure the color you pick has the correct base. Some are yellow based, some are blue based, ect. So the base of your paint color needs to be compatible with the undertone of your wood. And, honestly, I think navy is probably one of the easiest colors to work with. It's like black, it just goes with everything. Including black! Now, I am bowing my amateur self out...XXOOSummer is a Verbhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11122787755561566562noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8297007378564032670.post-4347869675921170302011-03-23T14:31:35.393-04:002011-03-23T14:31:35.393-04:00Thanks for the excellent advice. The walls beneath had to have a lot of prep work done post removal, but I do love the look. (the workmen on the other hand....v. dramatic eye roll) It is beautiful though. I will look into the RL papers, although I neglected to mention there is a navy/white herringbone fabric sofa I had made for the room as well. Any wallpaper or paint will have to compliment all of this blasted navy! And while khaki is certainly an option, I've never heard of the treatment paints you mention. First of all, Ralph Lauren makes that beautiful seagrassy/straw wallpaper that is one of my all-time favs. I also think many of his plaid and tatterall papers could work. If you prefer to stick with paint I'd suggest either a warm khaki (but make sure it has a base compatible with your cherry wood), the lighter (but not baby) blue found in blue and white porcelin orrr keep your navy and use one of Ralph's paint treatments to distress for a salt air aged effect. And...Love. Another must have. Gee, thanks. :-)

And now, dear Alice a completely O.T. post:

I need some decorating advice from you and your tres knowledgeable readers:

I decorated my library/office with a nautical motif in mind. I had a navy and medium/light blue striped cornice with thin stripes of white fabricated and under laid with white sheers. Brazilian cherry wood floor and cherry bookcases complete the room, with the exception of fab lighting. Unfortunately, I had the walls painted a hue close to navy blue which renders the room unpleasantly dark and not at all what I envisioned. Can anyone say dreary?

I would be able to change said decor (with the exception of the quite nice bookcases and flooring) except I purchased a lovely desk chair in &*^%^$#! navy leather instead of my original choice of beige, as well as a sisal rug (fine in and of itself) but also bordered by navy. I desperately need to change the wall color. Anything except white or ivory or any variation thereof.

Your suggestion, as well as those of your readers is most welcome and greatly appreciated.

~ Barefoot, content and otherwise happy denizen of BocaAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8297007378564032670.post-28922242639131038742011-03-22T12:54:50.844-04:002011-03-22T12:54:50.844-04:00giving up shopping for Lent.........giving up shopping for Lent.........FoodEhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04700661648504758356noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8297007378564032670.post-11445736325275204102011-03-22T12:11:23.563-04:002011-03-22T12:11:23.563-04:00Very true to size for me.
